Summer Camp

Owen had the opportunity to go to overnight church camp for 3 days and 2 nights right after we got back from vacation.  He was super excited to go and was packed for camp about a month before it was time to go!

A friend of ours was one of the chaperones and sent me this canoeing picture the second day of camp.
Our church went with another church and they had a 'closing ceremony' at the other church. Owen is the third from the left on the front row...they were all pretty tired for the closing program.  The theme was Once Upon a Time and they were princes and princesses fighting the knights (chaperones) while they learned about the armor of God.
He loved the time at camp.  I told him I missed him so he wouldn't get to go again and he said, 'Mommy, I missed you too, but I'm going again next year!'  So glad our big guy had a great time.  He got to try archery, went swimming in the pool and lake, canoed, did arts and crafts, played lots of games and hit up the snack bar.

Family Vacation!!

We vacationed at the beach last week.  It was AWESOME!!  We had such a great time as a family.  The kids grew closer and it was wonderful to see them enjoying each other and growing in their relationship.  If I had a nickle for every time Anderson told Aaron, me or Owen that he loved us, I'd be overflowing in money. Instead (and better), my heart is overflowing for the precious family time that we so needed and shared together last week.

We spent a lot of time on the beach and in the pool..these kids are little fish.  We enjoyed a couple of movies, a baseball game, back to school shopping and nightly shell hunting family walks.

Anderson got buried almost every day.

He actually took a nap on the beach!

And the sand boobies returned yet again...

Couple of pics

Just some odds and ends...

Cherry eating can be pretty messy...he looks like he's been shot!

Pic of Anderson as a scuba diver from a field trip with summer camp.  I love it when his teacher sends me pics during the day.

The kids have always loved helping Aaron with the grass.  They have recently begun asking to ride in the trailer.  Anderson even took a nap back there yesterday!

And Owen is still practicing his driving skills and getting really good.  Another year or so and he'll be the one cutting the back yard!

  And then they switched places.

And lest you think that they only help Daddy, here are some pictures of them helping me make cookies for Daddy (and wearing the cool aprons they made at summer camp that week).

Owen's is a 4th of July theme with the flag and fireworks.  Anderson's is Superman.

Oh goodness...I wish I could bottle up the things they say and be able to replay it when I need a laugh.  I love these kids so much!

The kids were recently introduced to Star case you were wondering, you've got a lot of the names wrong.  Below are the correct names per our kids.

Yoda is d-yoda
Darth Vader is Dark Vader
Light Sabres are Light Savers

Aaron told Owen that he had a green light sabre when he was a kid and Owen responded, "Was it real"?

Owen was being a little lazy with reading and read, 'This drink contains vitamins and materials.'

Anderson had a sip of Aaron's Mt. Dew and said very seriously, 'I can't drink the whole bottle or I'll be drunk, right Daddy?'

Sandlot Baseball

We signed Owen up for a local Sandlot baseball league.  It's basically organized pickup games and he moved up to machine pitch.  It's a great intro for him into 'real' baseball vs tball.

I was so nervous for his first at-bat...but he took one swing and hit the ball!

He was excited to play catcher, but didn't really have any idea what he was doing since it was only the 2nd inning of his first game.  But, he had fun and that's the point!  He also looked super cute!
Anderson was cute just hanging around and watching his big brother.  He asked if he was going to get to play too and when I said no, he said, 'Yes, I get to play in the dirt!'  And he did play in the dirt...and didn't get yelled at for it.  He spent a fair amount of time getting yelled at for playing in the dirt during tball games.
