Opening Day 2014

Baseball opening day brought a beautiful warm sunny day, team pictures and a double header.

The car ride to the fields, Owen was saying that he was going to hit a home run.  He just happened to be the last batter in the lineup the first game, so he did get his home run.  And he was so much more animated about it than we are used to seeing him.  They both had such a fun day.  Big Thank You to the grandparents for coming to cheer on the little sluggers!

The day in pictures...

Taking the field for the first time.
Anderson, No. 16 running to first.
Owen, No. 10 heading up to bat.
Owen playing 3rd base...Anderson at short stop looking for rocks.

 Still picking up rocks...
The pile up that ensues after 9 of the 11 tballers races to the outfield to field the ball that got by all of them in the infield.
 Owen on 3rd base
Lunch w/ Grandma...It only took about 25 tries for a picture that had both boys smiling and looking at the camera.
Anderson playing pitcher.  The coach drew a line in the dirt for him to stand on...but after chasing the ball all around the field, he had a hard time finding it.  The coach thought he wasn't paying attention because he was looking at the ground wandering around...but I knew what he was doing b/c every time he found it he'd dramatically put both feet on it and get in fielding position.
 A closer up pileup.
 Owen hitting.
Anderson on 2nd...he's so little out there!
 Owen on 2nd.

Oh, Owen!

This one is pretty funny too...but more in an accidental way.

I was teasing him while we were at a Chinese restaurant waiting for our food. I told him I ordered him the PuPu platter.  He said, it's not really poo-poo, that's just French.

He asked Aaron if he'd like some granola.  When Aaron declined, he said, 'But it has toucans in it.'  There aren't actually toucans in it, but there are pecans.

Riding to school, he told me he was going to sit up nice and tall and have good apostrophe at school that day.

He's pretty sweet too...
He has a goal of reading 150 books this school year and we are running out of books around the house to read.  A chapter in the Bible counts as a book.  He's enjoying learning about Moses in Bible time at school and asked to read through Exodus.  He is so cute when he is reading.  He stops to tell us what is going to happen next.  I love that he loves the Bible.

Baseball

I cannot stand the cuteness of these little guys in baseball gear!

Warming up with Daddy.  Owen's throwing has improved so much.  A couple of the moms told me they thought he was in the older division and was just helping out at his little brother's practice.

 On third base during practice.

 Anderson running the bases.
 Their turn in the field.
Owen at first and Anderson at pitcher.  Owen wants to play pitcher because that is where most of the balls go, but he'll probably see a lot of time at first because he's good about catching and keeping the ball in front of him (not that they call kids out at this level though).
They are both excited about the season and oh so cute!

Oh, Anderson!

That boy is a funny guy...

He loves super heroes, but because Daddy's favorite is Superman, Anderson's favorite is Superman..  He has his shirt tucked into his Superman undies, the cape is a reversible spiderman/batman cape and he is doing a Superman pose.  And he taped a Superman stencil on his shirt.

For Dr Seuss day at school, they made this super cute project.  He was very quick to point out to me that he gave his fish mustaches.

His bedtime prayer one night, 'Thank you for our family.  They are good enough.'

He declared that Madalyn is the prettiest girl in his class said she wears fantastic dresses.

He said that he had to finish his potion (his milk).

Snow, Snow, Snow

We have had so many snow events this year that I don't even know which pictures go with which event any more.  But here are some snow pictures.
 Put those kids to work!

And in try NC weather, it was warm enough for short a day or two after snowing.

Basketball Awards

Basketball was so much fun.  We had a week off after basketball ended before baseball started up.  The kids are once again on the same team, which makes me very happy!

I wish I had better pictures from the basketball award ceremony.  Anderson's grin was from ear to ear when he got his trophy.

This team picture makes me laugh!

They both had a great time with basketball.  When the season started, Anderson was lucky if his shots hit the net.  The 2nd to last practice, he made 4 or 5 baskets and made a few more in the last practice and in game warm ups.  After the first one he made, he strutted around the court and was so proud.  Owen has a great start on his understanding of the game and of his fundamental skills.  It was a fun season.
