Two Wheels

Guess who tried out a two-wheeler this past weekend...

After a little practice in the backyard, he headed out to the street.  He was doing really good and has a good sense of balance. We still have some practicing ahead of us...but we are on our way to family bike rides!

Spoiled boys

Their daddy has them completely spoiled!  A friend of Aaron's recently moved to NYC.  He had ordered some plain corn hole boards prior to planning the move and offered them to Aaron.

Aaron hooked our kids up!  They are loving having their own boards (although as of this writing, Mommy and Daddy have logged more playing time with them).

These themes must have been meant to be...Anthony had order red and black bean bags with his plain boards and the colors are perfect.

2013 Fair

We enjoyed another great trip to the fair.  We don't do much other than ride and eat...but the kids have a blast, stay up way too late and eat way too much junk food.

A few ride pics...Anderson talked about riding the fire truck for at least a week leading up to the fair and it was the first ride they rode..
Anderson also couldn't wait to see the fireworks...although he may have been too tired to fully appreciate them.
Owen was big enough this year to ride this 'drop zone' ride.

This and That

The blessing that Anderson says at school with his class is a little song that ends with aaaa-men.  When Anderson says it at home, he ends with awww-man.  When he says his own prayer, he says amen correctly...I think the singing messes him up....but it's too cute to correct.

Owen has brought home 2 joy notes in October.  Joy notes are extra recognition in first grade and stand for Jesus, Others and You.  He earned one for patiently waiting for a kindergarten class to walk by and he earned one for having a great attitude when his team lost a game.

Fall is full of excitement...the kids can't wait for the fair and Halloween.  And, they are already talking about Christmas.  We need to reset some expectations...Owen's first list for Christmas includes a new bike, a computer/tablet, an ipod and  a new bike helmet.

A recent car conversation...
Owen:  Anderson, do you know what happens when a shark bites a zombie?
Anderson:  Ummm
Owen:  He's not dead because he is a zombie.
Anderson:  Yes he is because he's all in pieces.

And a homework conversation...completely non-homework related.
Anderson:  I'm whispering with my mouth closed.
Owen:  You mean you are talking in your head?
Anderson: Yep, just seeing if you can hear me.

I asked Owen who he played with at recess and he said, 'My boys club.'
Me:  Who's in the boys club?
He named some boys and then said, 'Jack is our leader."
Me: What do you do in the boys club?
Owen:  Oh, we just run around.  But, I think we should change the name to "The boys chase the girls club' because we like to chase the girls.  And they like to chase us too.

Owen:  I saw Madelyn at school today and gave her a hug.
Me:  Where did you see her.
Owen:  In the girls restroom.
Me:  What were you doing in there?!
Owen:  I wasn't in there, she was lined up outside it.

Owen made a 'thankful pumpkin' in Sunday school this week.  How sweet is it that he is thankful for bruthr!  The rest of his list includes, our house, daddy, mama, God, family, DS, and bed and fruntnr (furniture).

Birthday Boy

I'm osting birthday wishes late to Aaron...he turned another year older on October 3.  The kids were so excited for Daddy's special day.  Owen is a gift giver and he was creating gifts for Aaron days in advance.

Aaron requested a red velvet cake and the kids think he made a great choice...they kept thanking him for picking that kind.

Below was his gift from me and the kids.  It is a window from his grandmother's old house that he'd been planning to get something painted on.  A friend of mine showed me a sign with similar wording over the summer and we started working on the design.  I think it is appropriate for our home.

A little funny that I've mentioned before, but will repost...when Anderson was little, he had a sippy cup of milk and he said, 'This is my Mountain Milk'.  Aaron does love his Dew!

Happy (belated) Birthday to my wonderful husband.  I love you more than words can say.

Owen's Room

Owen's room is now finally complete too.  We love how both rooms turned out.  Below is a photo tour of Owen's room.

It's hard to see, but the words at the bottom say, Everyone commits errors, but His sacrifice will get you home.

 Awesome flag Aaron made.
 And the feature wall...
