Preschool Egg Hunt

Anderson had an Easter egg hunt and family picnic at school.   Lots of fun for all!

Owen and I went a little early to help 'hide' eggs and then Owen wanted to help Anderson hunt eggs.

They climbed in the baby cart next to my friend's little cutie....I was really surprised Owen fit.

Monster Trucks

We finally finished Christmas at our house when we got to use our Monster Jam tickets that the kids got for Christmas.  It was quite the long wait and they were really excited that the day was finally here.

Owen took this picture...pretty good, huh!  That's Grave Digger in the back.
They both loved Monster Mutt aka the 'dog' truck.

You may recall that when Owen graduated from preschool, when they called each child's name they said what they wanted to be when they grow up.  Owen wanted to be a monster truck driver.  I don't think the show in any way discouraged this desire.  They had a great time.

March Madness

March Madness is upon us!  Owen and Anderson were dressed in their light blue last week for the ACC tournament.  It was a rather difficult morning...so Owen wasn't quite ready to smile yet.

On the way to school, Anderson said, 'Mommy, I don't like these pants.'  I asked him why and he said, 'Because they are Duke blue and I don't like Duke.'

When asked his favorite color a few days later, he said, 'Green and Carolina Blue.'

I love that when they are telling us about friends from school, details are often provided about which team the friend or teacher cheers for.

Glasses

We decided to take Owen to the eye doctor to get his eyes checked a few weeks ago.  He would hold his books and papers really close to his face and he had just barely passed the eye screen at his last 2 well visits.

We discovered that he does need glasses for reading, school work and piano due to an astigmatism.  We think he's pretty handsome in his new spectacles and he has been so excited to get them!

He loves the Harley Davidson case they gave him.

He told me he wants to take a picture of him with a sad face to pretend he doesn't like them, but he really does.
They have spiderman webs on the arms, which is very exciting for a 5 year old!

He got these snazzy sunglasses after his eye exam...and he loves them.  He even took them to school for show and tell.  Hahaha!
He keeps saying how much bigger everything looks.  And keeps pointing out small details he couldn't see before, like scratches on the door and dust on the garage steps.

Friday Funnies!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  We'll start it off with a few recent funnies from our house.

I reminded the kids to say their blessing before breakfast one morning.  Owen replied, 'I said mine in my head.'  Anderson chimed in, 'Well, I said mind in my tummy.'

Anderson received a Hello Kitty tattoo in his valentines from school.  Owen saw it and told him he had to give it to me because Hello Kitty is for girls.  Anderson replied, 'I like kitties.'

Aaron changed into a sweatshirt and sweats.  Anderson asked him if he was going to work. Aaron said, 'No, I'm just going to grill out.'  Anderson replied, 'In that?'

We call Aaron every morning so the kids can talk to him before heading off to school.  I often walk into another room while I'm talking to him because they can be really loud in the background.  One morning, I walked away and came back to find my breakfast gone.  Anderson quickly fessed up to taking and eating it. And then told me that being out of my seat means I'm all done so he could have it.  He is correct, we have the rule of if you get up you are done.

Owen was pulling out his cup for baseball and Anderson said, 'It has eyeballs!'

After learning about Dr. Seuss and celebrating his birthday...
Owen:  When I grow up I'm going to write stories for kids.  I'll use the name Dr. Seuss since he's dead now.

And a little sweetness...After prayers, Anderson said, 'We need to pray for the birthday boy because him was sick and not at school today.'  JJ's birthday was that day, but he was sick and not able to make it to school to celebrate.

This and that

I told the kids a few weeks ago that we'd head to the park on Saturday.  Only problem was I forgot to check the weather before I told them and then it was raining.  We decided to head to the library instead.  I love this 'post library trip' picture.

They desperately needed a hair cut.  When Aaron was getting the trimmers ready, we noticed that the #2 guard was broken, so, a #1 buzz cut was in order.   Anderson is smiling, but he was not happy with the mohawk look and wanted his hair fixed.

I think Owen has grown a bit over the past year.  Maridith made this shirt for him for his birthday.
And here's a picture of him in it last summer...

Soccer and Baseball

This weekend was a big weekend.  Owen had his first soccer game of the spring and scored 2 goals!  His  game was at 11.  He wanted to sleep in his uniform Friday night.  I didn't let him, but he was dressed and ready to go at 7:01 Saturday morning...and kept asking when it would be time to go.  Two of the other 5 kids were on his team this fall and he was really excited to see his buddy Talan again when practice started.

Saturday afternoon, he had his first ever baseball practice.

He hadn't been too excited about baseball until he got his gear.  Aaron took him shopping, so when I say 'gear', it is everything you could think of (and probably then some!).  Friday night, he took the time to try it all on and show me everything they had gotten.  As soon as we got home from soccer, he started asking if it was time to put his baseball gear on.

All dressed and ready to go.
