Weak spot

This little booger...
while tickling me said, 'I found a weak spot'.  I was laughing as much from the tickling as I was the comment.

3 Year Stats

Anderson was the lucky fella to head to the doctor on Owen's birthday...even luckier because there were no shots involved...just a finger prick.

We found out what we expected...he's still on the smaller side, but he's catching up.

Weight - 31 pounds, 50th percentile, up from 30th at 2 year.
Height - 36 inches, 25th percentile, up from 10th at 2 year (and 5th at 18 months)

He had an eye exam.  The first shape was a circle...no problem.  He didn't get the next shape and neither did I.  It was like a chopped off heart, sort of apple kind of thing but no stem.  Next up was a house...which he cutely called 'dog house.'  And then was distracted by the crying baby and trying to figure out where the baby was and why he was crying.  He's not running into walls or standing super close to the TV, so I think he's fine.

Holy Birthday, Batman!

We celebrated Owen's birthday with a batman bounce/water slide party.  He was super excited leading up to his party and we had a great time.  I didn't get too many pictures because it was a busy day, but here are the best of what I got.
I was so happy when I picked up his cake to see how wonderfully it turned out.  It seriously looked better than the picture I sent to show her what I wanted it to look like.
Owen wanted a bounce party.  I asked him if he wanted it somewhere or at our house.  He chose our house.  Considering we were mid-June, I was worried it would be too hot to be bouncing outside.  I found a bounce house/water slide which took care of that worry.  And, God took care of the weather...we had a gorgeous day for the party.

Anderson heading down shortly after it was set up...still in his pj bottoms.
Our kids played from 10am until almost 6pm.  They were so tired!

He also requested cotton candy...we were definitely on sugar over-load for the day.  I have to hand it to him though, the cotton candy machine was a hit...thanks, Papa!  I can't believe this is the only picture I have of him with cotton candy.  Any time the machine was on, he was there asking for more:)

We had water activities set up for the little kids so they could have fun too...and the not so little decided it was his personal hot tub.

Some of the guests...Aaron was hanging out inside most of the party helping the kids get up to the slide.  It was tricky...made slippery by all the wet little feet.

Sweet Cailyn was so funny...she didn't want to put her feet on the grass.
  Ahh, this is the life!
  Sweet Maddy...

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it.  We had so much fun.  We'll see you again when he turns 10!

Happy 5th Birthday!

Wow, 5 years old.  I can hardly believe it! I can't remember our lives without Owen and yet it seems like just yesterday he joined our family.  Owen has such a sweet, tender and loving spirit.

His major interest at 5 is superheros...especially batman.   He still loves to help Aaron and me around the house with anything and everything and is a great help.  He is super excited about going to 'big school' in the fall.  He's working on reading and really enjoys it.  I love to see the excitement he has when he learns and masters new skills...although he sometimes needs some encouragement to push through.  He is still a fish and loves anything to do with water.

This day is always a little challenging, but God grants me more peace each year.  Owen has gained quite an awareness about Evan this past year and it has been healing to talk about Evan and explain to Owen how special he is to be a twin and have a brother in heaven.  While tucking him into bed last night, I shared with him how blessed we are that he is healthy and how worried we were that we'd lose him too.  God has his hand on Owen and I can't wait to see what is in store for him.  Through Evan, Owen has learned so much about God...knowing that he has a brother in heaven has really allowed us to talk more than we probably would about how and why we go to heaven when we die.  He knows that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that Jesus offers us the gift of eternal life if we just believe that He is the Son of God and confess our sins.   What a blessing to share the love of Christ with a child and to see the faith of a child and his love for God growing.

Happy 5th Birthday, Owen and Evan!
Mommy and Daddy love you so much!

Vacation - Final

Just some pictures from the rest of our time at the beach.  Anderson really enjoyed the water and sand more as our time went on, but I quick taking the camera after the first few days figuring I had enough pictures.

Vacation Part 3

We tried mini golf again...this year with a much better outcome!  Last year was a comedy for sure...3 pairs of pants for Anderson, so hot we only made it to about the 5th hole before giving up, kids who wanted nothing to do with mini golf.  This year, we played the whole course!  Owen played every hole and Anderson played a few, but had fun the rest of the time as well.  We enjoyed the cooler temps and not having to change Anderson's pants.  haha

I was pretty bummed to lose to Aaron by 1 stroke...especially when I had 3 hole-in-ones and no 5's...boohoo!

Do you see the turtles behind Anderson?  There was a little one too, but he slipped in the water.
One of the holes is on the pirate ship...bit fun for little guys.

The arcade was just as much fun this year as last year.

We jumped again this year too...and this also went much better than last year...again, the lower temps helped and so did the smaller crowds.  I am pretty convinced that early-June is the time to go to the beach!  Owen did a back flip!

We got some ice cream and had to put it in a cup because Anderson just wanted to eat the cone.

After dinner, we headed back to home base and the kids took a swim in the cold pool...the pool temps were definitely a drawback from the cooler daytime temps.

The green goblin or turtle man?

We had such a great trip.  One more post to come with the rest of the pictures from playing on the beach.
