Shoes, shoes, shoes

This kid loves shoes...I know I've already posted several of these pictures, but can't resist sharing the newest batch.

We went to the fair!

And had a blast! It was fun to say 'yes' to Owen for just about every request. He rode and rode and rode and ate some tasty and unhealthy food. Leading up to the fair he was talking about riding the Dragon Wagon (little roller coaster) and the firetruck which were his favorites from last year.
Here's our fair adventure in pictures...
Front seat of Dragon Wagon...he snagged this seat both times he rode.

I loved these hot air balloons...they looked like so much fun. Owen cracked me up the way he was so relaxed during the ride.

Front row again...

Daddy squeezed in with Owen to ride a bigger roller coaster that he was too little to ride alone.

We took a break to eat some dinner...he ate the whole thing!

Owen was loving this game.

Riding the big ferris wheel with Daddy.

The corn was his favorite.

Around our house - Anderson

Part 2 of some of the goings on around our house...

Anderson has quite the personality. He is such a fun little guy and is going to keep us on our toes!

Anderson is quite the little climber...Aaron thinks he'll figure out how to get out of the crib by Christmas...I'm hoping not! Every time I turn my back, he's up on something...be it a chair, ladder, or table.

I love reading to the kids at night. Anderson's current favorite book is the same as Owen's was at this age...Goodnight Moon. When we get to the old lady whispering hush, he'll put his finger to his mouth and say hush. But, all throughout the book, he'll pull my hand to my mouth and giggles when I say hushshshs.

Owen isn't the only one stuck on repeat...Anderson also is, but not with Why, with dog and phone. Every animal is a dog and to call phones an obsession is an understatement. It's phone, phone, phone with him!

I probably shouldn't be surprised to realize that Anderson is always watching and taking in what we do, but I often am when I see him copying us. I was zipping Owen's coat this morning and looked over at Anderson and he was trying to zip his as well. For a few months now, he'll put his hands together at dinner when we say it's time for the blessing.

Anderson is a great picker-upper...which is good because he can make quite the mess in minutes! He, again like Owen, loves pots, pans and kitchen utensils. He has figured out how to open the refrigerator and loves to play in the pantry. He also loves trucks and balls. He'll push trucks while saying vroom vroom.

He loves to be outside and can walk all the way to the babysitter's. If he sees someone go outside he gets very upset to be left inside. And he loves to swing. I have a great video I need to post of him driving Owen's lawnmower. He likes tools and an afternoon a couple weeks ago, picked up one of Aaron's drills and held it up to the fence Aaron was working on.

Anderson has a ton of words...I need to start writing them down to keep track of them. He's been quite vocal from the start and it's so fun to hear his little words. We are still working on milk and up...which are currently conveyed with urgency much whining/crying and pointing.

He still loves shoes. He'll put any shoes on that are left around the house (which I seem to have a problem doing). The other day he was clunking around in Owen's sneakers and then managed to get Owen's slippers on...I do have pictures...they'll come in a future post.

Oh, and one thing I forgot to add to Owen's update...the firetruck came to preschool last week. He has since instructed me several times that we shouldn't play with matches since they are dangerous. And one thing to mention since I published Owen's piece...I was picking up his shorts tonight and heard a jingle...in the pocket were 8 nails that he'd pocketed while helping Aaron work on Granny's fence this afternoon. Like father like son...I'm always finding nails in Aaron's pockets!

Around our house - Owen

Lots going on around our house these days. Owen and Anderson are both at great ages right now. Will there ever be a time that I don't think my kids are the cutest kids ever? I hope not! I started this post and realized I needed to break it into 2 posts.

Some fun things from the past week or so...
Owen singing 'green might mice, green might mice, see how they run'

Owen helped me make Aaron's birthday cake. He was in the bathtub when Aaron came home and was terribly upset that his daddy would see the cake before he showed him. The panic on his face was pitiful! Good thing Aaron had a lot of tools to unload, which gave me time to dry Owen off and send him downstairs in his birthday suit to proudly show Aaron the cake he made him.

One day last week was Owen's special day at preschool. On his special day, he got to choose a toy and book to take to school and share with the class. He had been saying for a few days that he wanted to take a tractor (that was actually mine as a kid). We packed the tractor up and then it was time to choose a book. He chose the Sunbelt Tool Catalog. Thinking that the teacher was probably using the book for story time, I slipped another book in the bag. Morning of his special day, elphanant (how he pronounces elephant) came downstairs with him and elphanant took the tractor's place.

Back to the Sunbelt catalog...Owen likes to have something to read while doing his business. He was looking at the catalog, turned the page and said 'Ooh, I haven't seen this page before!'

One night last week when I was tucking Owen into bed, he said that I should sleep in his bed and he'd sleep downstairs with daddy. He continued on to say that I could get up early and fix breakfast for him and daddy while they slept in. He then requested eggs.

Being the nice mommy I am, I did make him eggs the next morning. I set the plate on the table, he looked at it and said 'where's the spinach.' Now, I would like to be able to say that I have the best eater in the world and he gobbles up his veggies...but I don't. When there is spinach in his eggs, he tends to pick around it.

Owen was pretending he had an ice cream cone. He told me he put sprinkles on it and caffeine in it.

Aaron had a local baseball camp this past weekend. Since he had a long afternoon break, I packed a picnic dinner and took the kids over to hang out. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and met some of the umpires Aaron has mentioned. We stayed and watched an inning with Aaron's crew before heading home for baths and bed. Aaron was the plate umpire and his first call was a strike. Owen entertained the audience by saying (loudly and animated) "Did you just hear my daddy say 'strike'."

On the drive home, after hearing the same questions over and over (mainly, why?), I asked Owen if he was stuck on repeat. He dissolved into a fit of giggles saying how funny the word 'repeat' is.

What is it about little boys and their teachers? Owen out of the blue told me that he loves Mrs. Missy.

We were working on full names. Owen was really excited to learn that he is named after Papa. When I first asked him his full name, he said 'My name is Stink and Anderson's name is Squirt'. I told him that was his nickname and we worked a little more on his full name. Then we went through everyone else's name and who they are named after. For the record, Evan is named after Aaron and his grandfather and Anderson is named after Aaron's grandmother.

I keep thinking we are at my favorite age, and then it just keeps getting better and better. I love you O-Dub!

Happy Birthday!

Guess whose birthday it is today?

Does this help?

Can you count the candles? There are 3 on one side and 4 on the other. No, he's not 7!

Happy Birthday to the wonderful man I married and the father of my children. I love you so much and look forward to at least 34 more of these birthdays!

Anderson's Tree

Anderson's tree has been planted in the backyard. The tree is an Autumn Blaze Maple just like his big brothers' trees. It's a great addition to the yard! Thanks to Papa and Grandma Cindi who gifted Anderson the tree for his birthday.

And, they stopped by to see the tree all planted in the yard and brought Gracie to check it out too.
