Blanket Baby

You can tell from the many pictures how fond Anderson is of his right thumb. But, he's also fond of something else...something I have no idea where he inherited it from...he's also a blanket baby.

And, a yellow one does occasionally sub for this blue one. The blue one still has all 4 corners intact...unlike a certain yellow one that's a little over 30 years old.
Which habit do you think will be harder to break?

New furry friends

Not for us...we're at our limit. For Papa and Grandma Cindi...

Isn't she sweet! This is Allee and there's also a Gracie who is just as sweet.

I Do

That's what I said 10 years ago today...10 years! Hard to believe my parents let me get married at 15...hahaha!

I love you, Aaron and I look forward to the next 50+ years with you!

So sweet!

While riding in the car, Owen was excited to find out that they could reach each other to do this...

Add in the frequent car ride giggles and this Mommy's heart is completely melted!

New Do

Aaron likes to give the kids mohawks. I've been waiting for Anderson to get one...and he did the other night before we headed out to dinner.

Here's Owen with one about the same age.

Nothing like sporting nothing but a mohawk and crocs! We've had a couple of potty successes (right place, right time)...we are taking the same approach we did with Owen of a daily sit. Anderson isn't quite as content as Owen was to sit there. Although, he sits much longer when Owen brings a book over and sits next to him.

The day after Anderson had a success, he went over to the potty, sat on it then stood back up and clapped. Totally hilarious and he clearly didn't get why I was applauding him the day before.

Riding a lion

Anderson has taken to wanting to ride the lion...only problem is, his legs are too short for him to go anywhere. At least he looks good while sitting and wishing he could go and he's getting really good at climbing on and off.

This and that

I know, I are suffering from picture withdrawal! We are good and have been busy.

Anderson is teething...drool for miles!

Owen got creative with finger paint and used it as hand lotion.

Then helped me make brownies...licking the spoon is a must!

Anderson tried out sitting at the big table.

Who is?

Tonight's dinner conversation...

Aaron: Owen, who looks younger, Mommy or Daddy?
Owen: Mommy
Aaron: Who's a better cook, Mommy or Daddy?
Owen: Mommy
Aaron: Who cuts the grass better, Mommy or Daddy?
Owen: Owen
Aaron: Who fixes things around the house better, Mommy or Daddy?
Owen: Owen
Aaron: Who is better at doing laundry, Mommy or Daddy?
Owen: Mommy
Aaron: Who's a better umpire, Mommy or Daddy?
Owen: Daddy

Owen scored some major points for these answers!

So big!

Owen is so big! We had his 3 year checkup today. This is the first time he's been back to the doctor since his 2 year visit (we've seriously had the healthiest year ever)!

We did some prep work last night for his visit to the doctor and talked about how she would listen to his heart and lungs, look in his eyes, mouth and ears. He asked me if he was going to get a dot at the doctor. I asked him what he meant and he said a dot on his knee. After that, I figured out he meant shot. I told him I didn't know and he asked if he did if it would hurt. I told him it would, but not for long. Normally, there are no shots at the 3 year check, but he lucked out and got 2. One was a catchup from a shortage when he was smaller and one was a booster for a stronger vaccine than what he originally received. He was a trooper...had a look of confusion on his face during the first shot, shed a few tears with the second and milked it a bit on the walk out. But, he layed nice and still and gave me a great big hug afterward.

He is 33 pounds and 37.5 inches...smack in the 50th percentile for both. He did a great job on his vision exam. He was a little hesitant to hop on the scale, but finally stepped on the orange feet markers. He enjoyed getting to climb the ladder up to the examining table and got a cool paper gown.

Dr. H told him he could get 3 stickers because he was such a big boy. He looked through, picked one out for him and then picked another one out and said 'this is for Anderson'. Awww!

And, for my records...I had to go buy him some size 10 shoes this weekend. The 9s I bought just a couple months ago are too small!

One of my favorite parenting responsibilities is bedtime. I don't know what it is about bedtime, but it makes them so sweet and cuddly and silly. We tend to head upstairs after dinner and play in their rooms until bedtime. They have fun chasing each other from room to room, diving into blankets, hiding under blankets, rolling around and being tickled. We read books, we dance, we sing songs, we wrestle, and we act silly. It's even better when Aaron is home and can join in with us. And, when it's time to tuck them in, I get lots of cuddles and kisses and hugs.
