Cute Phrases

Just a few cute things Owen's said lately...

During grace at dinner a week or so ago...'and thank you for my fork'

Leaving the house last week after Aaron said bye and love you...Owen replied 'love you, Aaron' (Side note: my sister's theory is that kids who call their parents by their first names end up in jail...let's hope that occasional addressing in this manner is exempt)

During bedtime prayers Owen was being silly. I told him he needed to tell Jesus he was sorry, which he did. Later, as I was closing his door, I heard him again telling Jesus that he was sorry.

Just a dipe

I think little ones are absolutely adorable when they just have a diaper on. Of course, I find this little one extra adorable in just a dipe.

Apparently big brother finds him kissably cute!

Buzz

I see so much of Aaron in this picture. This is the before shot.

And, this is the after...

And a few of the process. He was very bothered that hair was getting on his socks...notice all the hair before the clippers even started!

Spring...finally!

We've had a long winter...not as long as some of you, but long by our standards. We have really been enjoying the warmer weather.

Our neighborhood doesn't have a lot of trees. During the building, each home was to have a tree planted in the front yard. When we were working with our builder and landscaper on our tree selection, we wanted one that would be good for climbing. Well, it's not so great for climbing yet, but it is good for being placed by daddy!

And, see Owen's fancy work apron? He and Aaron went to a workshop at Home Depot and made a bird house with rain gauge.

Visit with Grandma

Grandma came for a visit and we had a great time. Owen and Grandma were pretending to go night-night. What the picture doesn't show is them rolled up in the play mat.

This series is funny to me. That's my sweet nephew Will.

Yummy!

Meal time is much more involved now that we've entered self-feeding. The dogs are loving all the food samples. Anderson loves food and boy can he eat! I don't think he's turned down anything I've offered him yet except for eggs. He's really having fun feeding himself.

And, he has a great helper.

We are about ready to switch completely to table food. I won't be making any more baby food once we finish up what is in the freezer. Texture seems to be a bit of an issue the first time he has something, but after that he's good. Some of the table food we've done are peas, asparagus, pears, peaches, cheerios, gerber puffs, toast, crackers, cheese, pasta, broccoli, noodles, goldfish, and avocados. By seeing this list, I can see we need to do try rice and blueberries. What else should we do? What did your little ones love? We did green beans, but I don't think they were soft enough for him.

Camp out

What is this doing in our yard?

Owen decided it was time he and daddy had a backyard camp out. I'm sure this is just the first of many that they will do. Neither Aaron or I got much sleep. I was up because I kept waiting for them to come inside (they never did!). Aaron was up because he couldn't move with Owen snuggled up against him.

No camp out is complete without a jackhammer and a reciprocating saw!

Going to sleep proved a bit difficult for Owen with all the outside sounds.

Crazy Climber

I've heard that boys tend to be more of climbers than girls. Owen has never been too much of a climber. I was in the kitchen and saw Anderson trying to reach something in the toybox. I was curious as to how he was able to reach so far into the box and this is what I found. Now, granted, it isn't a very high climb, but he's not even walking yet!

Look what we found in our box...

Casual reading

Anyone else's boys sit and look at tool catalogs? Owen loves to look at them and tell me what everything is. And, that his daddy has them all. He's teaching Anderson the fun of tools too.

At least at Christmas, this practice saved me money. Owen was looking at a Craftsman club flier and I saw that something I had purchased for Aaron was listed in the flier at a $30 savings.

And, just because the backview is cute.

Picture time

Lots of pictures to be posted this week...here are some teaser picture captions.

Mama!

After saying dada dada and baba baba for a while, Anderson graced me with a mama mama last night. Several times when I've been working with him to say 'mama', Owen will jump in and tell him to say 'dada'.

Tooth #2 popped through last week, very quickly and very shortly after #1. There's still some serious chewing going on, so I'm thinking the top teeth may soon appear.

9 Months an Stats

Anderson was 9 months old last Friday. We had his WBV this morning. Well, he's little, but we knew that.

The first weight they did was 14 lbs 7 oz, which had me a bit worried as he was 14 lbs 8 oz at his 6 month visit. After a re-weigh, he is...

Weight 15 lbs 11 oz
Height 27 inches

He moved from the 5th to the 10th percentile on height. His weight isn't on the charts...guess he spent all his energy growing in length and in learning to walk. I had a heck of a time keeping him still during the exam. He was all over the place while we were waiting. We'll keep feeding him avocado and whole milk yogurt to try to get some weight on him. He sleeps great and loves to eat, but is just really active.

We did get a referral to urology for a minor hypospadious. I don't have the appointment yet, but I imagine we'll be getting him in for surgery sometime in the next couple of months. At least we know what to expect this time since Owen had it too.

We got Anderson's 9 month pictures done this past weekend. We have the below picture in the living room with Owen's 2 year profile picture. Their personalities are perfectly captured in the pictures. Owen has his cautious smile and Anderson is wide open! We got so many great pictures and Anderson didn't try to crawl away as much as I thought he would.

eta: I don't know why the picture is so long...I guess they edited it before printing.
