Helping Daddy

Aaron was doing some caulking around the house and had a cute little helper.

Then Owen decided a nail gun was necessary to finish up the job, while Anderson supervised.

Gu-gu-tar

Uncle Adam and Aunt Sarah gave Owen a gu-gu-tar for Christmas. He loves to play music and wants me to dance and sing while he plays...I think he plays better than I dance or sing!

I love how he stands on his toe to hold the guitar up to play.

What's cooking

Apparently the kitchen is our playroom.

And everything is game for assisting Anderson in standing..even a bottle of vinegar. This kid cannot wait to walk!

Playing together

Anderson and Owen have started to play together more. I just love to see them interact. For the most part, Owen is great about sharing, but gets territorial every now and then. During dinner the other night, Owen was being silly and Anderson was just watching him and laughing. I fall more in love with these boys and their daddy every day!

This was the scene while I was making dinner the other night. Who needs toys when you've got pots, pans, utensils and vinegar!

And a few from the past few weeks...

Finally...a tooth

Anderson's first tooth has finally popped through. Lucky for you all, I found it so you don't have to buy him his first pair of walking shoes. Our babysitter is Portuguese and that is the tradition there.

He is still loving food and had fun with graham crackers last night. You;ll also notice his spiffy new hair cut.

The dogs are very excited that there is now another food source in the house.

The 'Stache

During basketball season, the only facial hair Aaron can have is a mustache so he's been growing it out since the start of the season. What do you think of it so far?

Just kidding, he was celebrating National Laboratory Mustache Day.

Animal House

Riding in the car today...

Owen: Mommy, you're a snail
Me: I am, and what are you?
Owen: I'm a worm
Me: Oh, and what is brother?
Owen: He's a caterpillar.
Me: He is, and what about daddy?

Wait for it...

Owen: He's a lady bug.

I'm still laughing!

Preschool Registration

Guess who is registered for preschool in the fall...Owen! He is so excited, I just hope the excitement is still there in September...that's an awfully long time for him to have to wait. We visited a few weeks ago and he has been talking about it almost daily since...so much so that I have been very careful to not mention it in front of him.

Cruising and standing solo

Anderson is getting more confident in his standing ability. On Saturday, he was standing by the stairs and let go...it only lasted a second. Then on Sunday, I was putting him down and as usual, he didn't want to sit, so I put him on his feet and let go. This time, he made it about 2 seconds. He's also started cruising around the furniture a bit and going from the couch to the coffee table and back again. All he wants to do is hold our hands and walk around the house.

Things to remember

Humor me while I record some things I don't want to forget...

I love how Owen calls all glasses 'safety glasses'.

He is getting quite proficient at dressing himself. But, one day last week, I heard a pitiful cry for mommy. I found him stuck in his shirt. He'd gotten his head through the wrong way, managed to get one arm in and had gotten twisted like a pretzel trying to get the other arm in. We often have underwear and pants on backwards, but at least they are on and he is getting the practice. Today, the pants and shirt were on correctly, but the 'boys wear' were on inside out and backwards.

He still often talks in the 3rd person, but is doing it less.

Most gender pronouns are male...we are working on the she's and her's.

He thinks all drinks with ice in them are tea like daddy's.

The water line in our refrigerator makes a knocking noise. One night it did it during dinner and Owen asked what it was. We jokingly said that it was Papa in the fridge. Now, every time he hears it he says that Papa is knocking.

He reminds us to hold the railing on the stairs when we go up and down.

This morning, he was upstairs playing hide and seek by himself. I heard him counting and then saying ready or not here I come...followed by, "Mommy, where are you?"

I keep chapstick in my nightstand drawer. Owen loves to have chapstick so I put some in his Christmas stocking. He opened it up and said he needed to put it back and went and put it in my drawer.

When he wants help, he'll say "Mommy want to help Owen"

Helping out

Owen has been so helpful since Anderson joined the family. His latest desire to help is in feeding Anderson. Am I the only one who can't feed a baby without opening my mouth? Apparently not...either that or it just runs in the family.

And trying to scrape the excess off Anderson's mouth. Feeding a baby is messy business...having a toddler feed a baby is even messier.

New Park

A new park recently opened up near us and we've made quite a few trips. Here's a few shots of the fun.

Madelyn joined us and was stylin'.

Pampered Chef

While the snow storm approached Friday night, I was spending time with some friends at a Pampered Chef party. As I was trying to decide what to order, Debbie mentioned that one of the items I was trying to decide between is a February host special so, I purchased the other item (covered baker) and I'm hosting a catalog party to get the mandoline at 60% off. If you'd like to order something, you can do so through Debbie's website.

Unglazed stoneware is 20% off in February...great deal! I love the stoneware and have several pieces that I use often. I ordered the glazed covered baker (that I've had my eye on for a while) and Debbie will be sending me nearly 30 pages of recipes to use with the baker...that should help with the dinner rut I recently posted about and get dinner on the table quickly. Stoneware can be used in the oven or the microwave and it a cinch to clean.

A few favorites of mine other than the stoneware are...
The quick stir pitcher...I have had mine for nearly 10 years now (a little super glue later and it is still working like the day I got it)
The springform pan...I love the glass bottom...my cheesecakes come out fabulous in this pan.
The classic scrapers...I have all 4 and use at least one of them every day.
The can opener...I don't like electric can openers and it is great to not have sharp edges.
The ice cream scoop (probably the husband's favorite).

The March host specials include many of the bamboo pieces. If you want to get a good deal on them I'm sure Debbie would love to have you book a party through her.

Also, if you are local you can email me your order (instead of ordering through the site) which will save a little bit on shipping.

Taking a stroll

After a stretch of really cold weather, we were all excited to spend some time outside.

I can't believe Anderson is big enough to ride in the wagon. He really seemed to enjoy himself.
